How to remove saniderm
After the tattoo is finished, I’ll clean it one more time, let the tattoo dry and apply second-skin. It’s waterproof, breathable and keeps bacteria out.
It’s normal for your tattoo to seep out a little bit of blood and plasma after it’s applied. However, if sweat or water gets inside, please remove saniderm right away.
Keep the saniderm on for 2-4 days.
Remove the saniderm in the shower as the steam releases the adhesive underneath, making it easier to remove. Gently pull edges of saniderm outwards, parallel to your skin when removing saniderm. Continuing gently pulling outwards until completely removed.
Cleaning the tattoo
Wash the tattoo gently with unscented soap to remove any remaining ink/plasma/blood and leftover adhesive.
Rinse off soap by splashing water on top of your tattoo instead of immersing underneath shower or tap.
Gently pat the area dry with a clean towel or paper towel to avoid bacteria getting inside, or let air dry.
Apply a thin coat of unscented lotion on the tattoo. Too little is better than too much.
Wash your fresh tattoo everyday during the healing period and continue to pat dry with clean towels and paper towels.
Healing period
Handpoke tattoos are usually fully healed by 2-3 weeks.
Coloured tattoos can take longer to heal fully.
The tattoo will itch and peel! Please do not scratch or pick. Let scabs fall off naturally or there could be damage to the tattoo and delay the healing process.
Do not expose your tattoo directly under the sun - best to cover it up. Do not use sunscreen until fully healed.
Do not submerge your tattoo under water and avoid hot tubs/hot showers.
Avoid excessive sweating in the area.
Only touch the tattoo with clean hands, and try your best to wear clean clothes over top and sleep with clean sheets.
After the tattoo has healed
Continue to moisturize the tattoo everyday for the rest of your life.
Sun causes the most damage to tattoos. Apply at least 50 SPF sunscreen/sunblock when going into the sun.
Touch ups
After tattoo is fully healed, please send me a picture of your tattoo if you think it needs a touch up.
Touch ups are always free if they’ve been taken care of properly.
I will not provide free touch ups for tattoos that haven’t been properly taken care of during the healing process (i.e. scratching, picking at scabs, immersing tattoo under water (swimming, hot tubs, etc)
Send healed pics
Seeing how tattoos heal is how artists learn and improve. Please send me a healed picture if you can - I’d greatly appreciate it!
Please moisturize beforehand and having the photo taken under natural light would be preferred!
Thank you so much for choosing to get tattooed by me. It is the greatest honour :)
